Launching the Tarader Shesh Tarpan series to pay tribute to legendary people who are no longer with us, Windows Production made a documentary series directed by the duo of directors Nandita Roy and Shiboprassad Mukherjee last year. Inspired by Gautam Bhattacharya’s novel Tarader Shesh Chithi, the Bengali series celebrates iconic memories of people who have left the world. Hosted by Gautam Bhatacarya, the show also invites various industry figures to share their thoughts and memories of the deceased.
After a successful first season with 12 episodes, the creators return with a second season with eight episodes. One of the episodes is dedicated to the memories of Irfan Khan, one of the brightest stars of Indian cinema, who successfully put India on the global map with his pure brilliance.
Directed by Aritra Mukherjee, Tarader Shesh Tarpan’s episode for Irrfan Khan includes celebrities such as Jisshu Sengupta, Shoojit Sircar, Roopa Ganguly, Tigmangshu Dhulia, Dr. Chandraprakash Dvivedi, Mahesh Bhat, Anis Bazmi, Deepak Dobrial, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Shailesh R. Singh, Sanjay Chauhan, Ajay Brahmatmay, Gunet Monga, Radhika Madan, Nikhil Advani, Abhishek Dutayatia, Hanoyata.
Sutapa Sikdar, Irrfan’s wife, said in the episode, “The way he spoke to people, I’m sure everyone could understand the honesty he has in himself that reaches the other person through his words.”
Speaking about his trouble-free acting, she said: “People have always said that Irrfan has never acted, I’ve heard it countless times from countless people. I’ve always wondered if so much work means “not acting,” how much effort it would take. Production duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee had a huge experience creating the series.
