Virgil Ablo died after a battle with a rare form of cancer


It is with sadness that we announce the death of one of the biggest names in fashion, Virgil Ablo. The news was announced suddenly in a post on Virgil’s Instagram account.

While Virgil was still actively working on his business ventures recently on November 5, where he spoke publicly at the National Museum of Qatar, his team revealed that he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2019, called cardiac angiosarcoma. Unfortunately, Virgil lost the battle on Sunday.

“We are devastated to announce the death of our beloved Virgil Ablo, a highly devoted father, husband, son, brother and friend,” the statement said. “For two years, Virgil bravely fought a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure the battle alone after his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing a number of challenging treatments while leading several major institutions covering fashion, art and culture.

LVMH, Louis Vuitton and Off White released a statement about Virgil Ablo, who was LV’s fashion director and Off-White’s chief executive.

“We are all shocked by this terrible news. Virgil was not only a brilliant designer, a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom, “the statement said. “LVMH’s family joins me in this moment of great sorrow and we all think of his loved ones after the death of their husband, father, brother or friend.

Virgil will be remembered for the imprint he left on the fashion industry and the bold statements he made for some of the biggest stars. He is only 41 years old and is survived by his wife Shannon Ablo and his two children Lowe and Gray Ablo.
