Today, six notorious historic black colleges and universities have received bomb threats. According to CNN, visiting students; Southern University and A&M, Howard University, Bethune-Kukman University, Albany State University, Bowie State University and Delaware State University were suspended on campus. Speakers at the institution briefed students and the public through social media posts.

Classes were canceled on all campuses and students had to stay in their dormitory rooms until permission was issued. In addition, the university’s activities were also suspended until further notice. Reports indicate that police are currently investigating the matter, especially since this is the second time the HBCU has had bomb threats in a month. As we reported on January 5, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Memorial University in Florida, Norfolk State University, Central University in North Carolina, Prairie A&M University in Texas and Xavier University received bomb threats.

Howard University also received bomb threats, making them the only university to receive two in a few weeks, although no real explosions were reported. The FBI is also involved in the investigation. The bureau issued a statement saying: “The FBI is aware of a series of bomb threats across the country and we are working with our law enforcement partners to address any potential threats.

The statement continued: “As always, we would like to remind the public that if they notice anything suspicious, they should immediately report it to law enforcement,” according to NPR news. Two hours after the bomb threat, the Washington, D.C., and Howard University police forces advised students that “everything is clear.” “Several people spoke out against the threats, including White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki, who said President Biden was aware of the latest bombings and called them alarming. Roommates, we will keep you posted when more information about the investigation becomes available!
