Roommates, Crystal Kieser, was 17 when she shot Randall Volar III in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in June 2018, telling authorities she was tired of being sexually abused and sexually abused. Kieser is currently at large and awaiting trial, but protesters are calling for her acquittal in the name of self-defense, just like Kyle Rittenhouse.
Chrystul Kizer was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, the same charge as Rittenhouse, and faces up to life in prison after her legal team claimed she was defending herself against a rapist.
“We saw that Rittenhouse could get away with premeditated murder,” Jens Sai, a Kenosha resident and protester, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Kristul Kieser should be able to really defend himself.
Kieser traveled to Volar’s house in 2018 and shot him twice in the head. She then set fire to the house and drove away in his BMW.
Volar, who was 34 when he was killed, met Crystal on Backpage when she was 16. He had previously been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting children and had a history of abusing underage black girls, according to The Washington Post.
Although prosecutors have acknowledged Volar’s previous record of sexual violence, they say Crystal’s actions were intentional. However, Crystal’s lawyers cite an argument in self-defense that has never been used in a murder case before Kyle Rittenhouse.
“The anger that strikes all people, blacks, whites, who are concerned about the racism that this country is facing, is like, it’s just stabbing you in the chest over and over again,” said Lorna Revir, a local protester.
A date has not yet been set for the Crystal Kieser trial.
