Students at the Amherst campus at the University of Massachusetts are outraged after various black organizations at the school were sent an email filled with disturbing and racist content, reports Newsweek.
Vice Chancellor Nephiti Walker published a statement (September 25) condemning the email that was published. Responding to her statement on Twitter, she said: “This is disgusting. I sympathize with our students. I give everything. All my time and energy. ”
In his statement, Walker called the content of the email “disgusting, blatantly racist and violently offensive.” She continues: “Ever since we heard about these incidents, we have launched a multi-joint joint hate investigation. We have also created opportunities to support directly affected students. ”

The email was addressed to “Black Students from Our Campus” and signed by the UMass Coalition for a Better Society. The e-mail first states that its author used a non-student account to avoid “falling victim to the predictable cries of” racism “and not being inclusive.”
UMass officials concluded that the emails were sent to various black organizations between September 8th and 17th. Students who are members of the National Society of Black Engineers received the first disturbing email, which included such disgusting statements as asking students to remove their genitals as a form of sterilization and hoping to erase DNA.
Walker and university officials say they will continue to investigate the racist incident, but they need students to help them with further information.
However, black students on campus feel as if the requests and statements only go so far and it is the school’s responsibility, not theirs, to keep them.
