Looking back to 2021 and my goals for 2022


Hello friends! How is the year so far? 😉 The kids are coming back to school this week, I’m teaching and educating clients again, and here’s FREEZING. It was as if Tucson had suddenly received the note that it was winter. The past week has been absolutely wonderful, with plenty of time outside (before turning into Arctic tundra), sleeping and gathering with friends. It’s nice to be back in the routine, but man, we all loved winter vacation.

For today’s post, I decided to summarize the past year and share some of my goals for 2022. I always like to talk about goals and share my personal in this space. It’s good to have a little responsibility there and I always like to hear what you want to achieve. Please get involved with all the insights from last year and what you are doing for 2022! I would like to cheer you up.

So I talked about it in the podcast, but somehow 2021 felt as hard as 2020. It flew into fog and parts of the year, shrouded in uncertainty, fear, frustration, and a lot of difficult and complex emotions. In other respects, it felt much better than 2020.

I focus on the good places of the past year (one of my main goals this year is to emphasize gratitude!) And here are some of the highlights:

We have Macy! This dog is just a hairy ray of sunshine. She is a real dog-dog (loves to wear, toys, walks, water games, bones) and there are always lots of hugs and kisses for everyone. She is such a smart and cuddly girl and we are all obsessed with her. Macy was a huge bright spot in 2021, especially since I was so devastated by Bella’s loss. (I still think about this amazing girl every day)

We have to travel to a lot of fun places with friends and family. We did Disney World twice, Sedona, Las Vegas, Austin, San Diego and small trips to Scottsdale. (Girls LOVE Great Wolf Lodge.) I hope the trip is a different topic this year because it’s one of my favorites.

We also finished our pool, which was a HUGE project. They did an amazing job and I am already looking forward to the spring and summer days at the pool.

I have a feeling we did find our tribe here in Tucson. We have such an amazing group of friends who are more like family and I feel so blessed that I can hang out with so many people we love. The girls have such wonderful friends – the best, most supportive and fun little team – and we are lucky that their parents are also pretty cool 😉 I also feel grateful every day that we can live here in Tucson, where so many many of our family is located! Our family weekly taco evenings are some of my favorite memories of 2021.

In terms of health (knocking on wood), 2021 was a good year. When it came to teaching, I felt so great about going back to private lessons. Finally, for me, I focused on my heavy weight training and Fit Team training.

I still focus on habits that make me feel great: I treat sleep like my job (the Oura ring helps a lot), a sauna blanket, eating lots of fresh vegetables and products, daily walks, spending time with friends and family, reading instead of watching TV, minimizing alcohol and * trying * to manage stress.

On the professional front this year, everything looked like a fight. The year passed SO fast and I often found myself wanting to do all the things, but I don’t have enough time. Although I feel like a challenging year professionally, I beat revenue and growth for 2021, kept hitting the CEO with Beautycounter (a huge stage in the company), increased our Fit Team community by 350% and I’m proud of the content. which I created last year. I also produced and released Barre Bootcamp 2.0.

It was my first year working with a business coach in my brain and I had the honor of learning from Jill Coleman. It really helped me change the way I run my business, get the Fit Team membership site up and running, with launches, emails, strategy and accountability. I was so grateful that I was invited again for this year, but I have some other things in preparation (more details below). I really want to work on implementing the strategies I learned along with growing the Fitnessista team.

In the past, I was asked to break down the revenue on my site and there was a lot of interest when I shared this information in my post about what it’s like to be a Beautycounter consultant.

Here is how everything was distributed for 2021:

It was quite insightful to look at the numbers at the end of the year, especially when it comes to revenue from partners (something I do for fun and just share things I really love) and Beautycounter. I feel like I didn’t have the bandwidth to dedicate so much to BC this year, but I LOVE our products, mission, and our team, so it’s definitely something I’m going to focus on in the future.

Some of my goals for next year:

Health

When it comes to health, I want to keep working on the key pillars that I focus on every day. More vegetables, exercise, time out, hot yoga (the best) and hydration. I don’t have big fitness goals for the coming year, but I just want to keep being consistent and gradually lift heavier weights.

professional:

Professionally, I have huge goals for 2022. I want to continue to develop the Fit Team, because our community is amazing, the training is fiiiiiiiii and I want to continue to improve the Fit Team platform.

We will also expand our 1: 1 nutrition offer because I am so excited to welcome Mia to the Fitnessista team.

She is a registered and licensed nutritionist, a professionally trained chef and has experience in health and fitness. She believes in nutrition based on wholesome foods and identifying the root cause of problems, plus a strategic action plan for each individual. She loves helping people with digestive health, food allergies and intolerances, autoimmune conditions, insulin resistance, infertility and PCOS, child nutrition, female hormones and treating people with chronic inflammation.

Mia is my personal friend and I was out of my mind when she said she would work with me with our 1: 1 clients, Fit Team members and here on the blog!

Here are some of the things she will do:

– Work with clients 1: 1 on our Upscale Nutrition program

– Suggest tests, if necessary, which include: hormonal tests (DUTCH test) and GI tests (GI MAP, IgE food allergy test, IgE allergy test, vitamin D, OAT, heavy metals, etc.)

– Create customized reporting packages and action plans to achieve your goals!

Personal

I set a goal to read 3 books every month in 2021 and will continue to do so in 2022.. I’m still working on the great summary post and the final calculation, but I finally read about 40 books last year and I really enjoyed it. The goal encouraged me to make reading a priority and to spend time on it every day. I feel like I’m a better writer when I read consistently, and I sleep much better at night when I read instead of watching TV. I almost stopped watching regular TV in January (with shows or occasional family movies here and there) and I don’t miss it at all. (I will definitely be watching the new seasons of Emily in Paris and Strange eye still!)

Gratitude, patience, presence. These are things I’ve always worked on to improve, and I feel like I’ve sucked a few of them in the last year. I was often two steps ahead and it was really hard for me to enjoy the moment. I started a practice of gratitude, which was such a beautiful addition to my daily life. (I just think of 3 things I’m grateful for when I wake up and fall asleep.) Meditation has been hit or missed, so I try to add it when I can.

I would like to return to a few hobbies, especially singing. My singing was largely stopped when the symphony canceled its second season, but I hope to return in 2022. Choral singing has made my soul so happy and I have missed it for the last few years. I listened to Messiah over Christmas and kept trying to visualize a real season next year!

Home improvements! We did not get the opportunity to tear the carpet upstairs, but it is happening this year for sure.
