According to CNN, Emma will spend the next three years in prison and will have four years of controlled release. Judge Rudolf Contreras also imposed a special $ 300 fine on each of the three counts. which she pleaded guilty to.

As previously reported, Emma has been behind bars since March, when she was arrested in Virginia at Dulles International Airport. According to reports, when she was arrested, she was charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana for import to the United States. Emma was formally charged on June 10 and will receive credit for the time served.

Emma went to court before the verdict during today’s sentencing and expressed deep remorse for her involvement in El Chapo and the Sinaloa cartel. In addition to any harm she may have caused to US citizens, she also took full responsibility and asked Judge Contreras to consider her 9-year-old twin daughters, who already have one imprisoned parent.

Emma’s team also asked if her sentence could be held at a restaurant near Los Angeles, where her daughters live, but it was unclear whether the judge had considered the request.
