On Wednesday, Chesley’s mother, April Simpkins, issued a statement on her daughter’s death, including the cause of her death. April said no pain was as deep as Chesley’s loss. The moment “forever changed” the grieving mother.
April’s heartbreaking caption included photos and videos of her and Chesley. A report on her death, published by the New York Post, claims that the deceased 30-year-old left a note behind. April did not confirm or deny the existence of a note.
“Today, it was officially confirmed what our family and friends knew in private that was the cause of death of my sweet little girl Chesley. “While it may be hard to believe, it’s true,” April wrote. “Chesley led both a public and a private life. In her personal life, she dealt with a highly functioning depression that she hid from everyone – including me, her closest confidant – until very shortly before her death.

Chesley’s achievements went beyond the parade. She reportedly received a law degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Wake Forest University. Chesley reportedly practiced with the Poyner Spruill law firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, when she won Miss USA. She continued to work with the company after her victory, according to NBC News. Chesley also worked as an additional correspondent.
But what her mother says the family will miss the most is her character and presence.
“While her life on this earth was short, it was filled with many beautiful memories. Then April dedicated a paragraph only to her daughter.
