Carl Cavalier says his impending termination by the Louisiana State Police Department is revenge for his criticism of how his department coped with the deadly traffic stop in 2019.
According to NBC News, The 33-year-old Cavalier said on Friday (October 15th) that he would fight for his position as a U.S. soldier. Cavalier has been with the state police since 2014. He was quoted by local television as saying that his department was covering up the death of 49-year-old Ronald Green.
He has been on paid leave since August. He shared a letter dated October 8, warning him of his possible dismissal within 45 days. It was signed and dated by Louisiana State Police Chief Lamar A. Davis.
In addition, the letter alleges breaches of public statements, department loyalty, publicity seeking, employee misconduct and dissemination of information.

“I swore and swore to do exactly what I did,” Cavalier said. “I will continue to work with everything in me. If the judiciary is working as expected, if the appeal process is working properly, I believe I will get my job back. ”
The gentleman said WWBRZ in June that “we still have killers, I think, at work. The boys who were slapped on the wrist for their roles in the Ronald Green incident go unpunished … patrolling the streets and staying at work. ”
Green, 49, took part in a high-speed chase on May 10, 2019. The chase led to the arrest of state soldiers. A year later, footage was released in the Associated Press showing soldiers stunning, hitting and dragging Green; he was left without medical care for nearly nine minutes. The soldiers initially told Green’s family that he had died in a collision after crashing into a tree.
NAACP Sector President Baton Rouge, Eugene Collins, said: “He tried to provide transparency that he thought the agency did not provide. This man stood up for soldiers and what was right. That takes us one step further. “
“This is not the oath I swore to keep, to watch my colleagues beat black men,” Cavalier said.
