A man seen chasing a woman to his apartment in a viral video, arrested for the 38th time

So far, you’ve probably seen the ongoing social media conversations about women’s safety. From Gabi Petito to the case of Mia Marcano, national titles have been particularly frightening in recent weeks. Against the backdrop of these tragic incidents, a viral video from last month shows an unidentified woman fleeing an attempted attack. Authorities said the man in the video was arrested in a recent statement.

NYPD Chief of Detectives James Esig provided an update via Twitter on Friday night. According to Chief James, police identified and arrested Orisha Lucky on October 7, nearly two weeks after the attempted crime.

What happened?

At about 2 a.m. local time on Sept. 23, Orisha followed a woman into a high-rise apartment building in the Bronx. The video at the moment shows the 50-year-old barely escaping to her apartment. Orisha reaches the door just as it closes. He turned the knob in an attempt to open the door, but it seemed to be locked. He also puts his finger on what looks like a doorbell, stands for a moment, and finally runs away from the stage.

Long criminal history

It turned out that this was not Orisha’s first time in a criminal situation. Police say he has been arrested 37 times before. However, they did not name the crimes behind the other arrests. The 41-year-old man is accused of burglary for the recorded incident.

The woman was not injured, only shaken by the meeting, according to ABC7 New York. She decided to remain unidentified while speaking to the media.

“There were two boys outside who looked suspicious,” she said. He followed me into the building and said twice, “Miss, Miss.”

Chief James thanked the public for their help in the Twitter message.

“It’s a great job to get a dangerous recidivist out of the street before he can hit again,” Chief James tweeted.

This is an evolving story.
