Stacey Abrams’ voting rights organization Fair Fight Action continues to pay it back, and in its latest act of kindness, the group donated more than $ 1 million to help clear people’s medical debt in five different states.

According to CBS News, the organization donated a total of $ 1.34 million to RIP Medical Debt and the money will be used to eliminate more than $ 210 million in medical debt for more than 108,000 people in Georgia, Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana and Mississippi. IN press release, Fair Fight Action said: “More than 108,000 people will receive a letter in the coming days, contained in a yellow envelope, informing them that their debt has been released.”

Stacey Abrams also spoke about her organization’s donation and said: “I know firsthand how medical expenses and a broken health care system are leading families to even more debt. This problem is exacerbated in states like Georgia, where failed leaders have recklessly refused to take action and expand Medicaid, even during a pandemic. So Fair Fight intervenes. ”

She continued: “For black people, working poor families and middle-class families facing devastating costs, we hope to ease the pressure on desperate Americans and hospitals struggling to stay open.

The Fair Fight Action donation is the third largest donation in the history of RIP Medical Debt.

The donation is also part of the organization’s efforts to help fight for the full expansion of Medicaid across the country.

Because we previously announced that last month Stacey Abrams was one of the people who was named the most influential by Time magazine.
