# Roommates, although he may not be playing in the NFL at the moment, athlete and activist Colin Kapernik continues to make big moves in Hollywood – and his latest project includes the legendary Spike Lee. According to recent reports, Spike Lee has been hired to direct the multi-series documentary about the life and career of Colin Kapernik for ESPN.

Fresh from his critics’ Netflix series “Colin in Black and White”, Colin Kapernik is once again ready to present his inspiring life story to the public. @Variety reports that Oscar-winning director Spike Lee will bring his iconic film style as a director of an upcoming documentary on Kaepernick’s life before, during and after his NFL career. The multi-series documentary is from ESPN Films and production has already begun – after the initial announcement in July 2020 as part of Kaepernick’s deal at first glance with Walt Disney.

A recent press release officially announcing that Spike Lee is coming on board as a director reads: “Kapernik, who has never given a full first-person account of his journey, is working closely with Lee, who plans to use extensive new interviews and a huge never-before-seen archive to help Kaepernick tell his story from his point of view. “

Back in October, Colin Copernicus was both an executive producer and a star on the Netflix series of his life, which also starred Jaden Michael as Copernicus in his younger years. This show documents his early days as he moved through the barriers of race, culture and class as blacks adopted into a white family.

In addition, the upcoming documentary will be executive produced by ESPN Films in collaboration with Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks – with former ESPN correspondent Cemel Hill as producer.
