There’s a new podcast that takes us behind the scenes of past and present moments from ABC’s daily talk show, The view. In the latest episode of The view: behind the table (October 12), co-host Sarah Haynes sits with former co-hosts Raven-Simone,, Candice Cameron Bure who were both on the show in 2015 for a candid conversation about the emotional ups and downs they both experienced on the show.

The 35-year-old joined The view as a co-host at the end of season 18, while Cameron Bure joined at the beginning of season 19. Both successful child actors, both said they both felt compelled to talk about the communities they represent; Cameron Bure is a devout Christian and Simone, who is part of the LGBTQ + community.

Simone explained that after visiting several times, she was asked to join the full-time roundtable. However, she claims that the way the daily chat fest was initially presented to her was quite different from her actual experience, leaving her feeling “caught”.

“I found myself,” Simone said. “I thought I was going to a show like Candice, where there was pop culture, fun and exciting, and I caught up and learned a good lesson.”

Simone notes that she did not know that the show would become so strongly in politics and always deviated from these conversations. She also said she was the only LGBTQ + member of the roundtable and pressed to be the face of her community.

“The only reason I really experienced a lot of things was because of Woppy [Goldberg] and manufacturers too, ”she explained. “There’s something amazing behind the scenes of The View that puts the ointment on all the BSs that happen on camera, which makes it bearable to stay as long as we do.”
