Paris Haralson, a former linker of the San Francisco 49ers, has died. He was 37.
A statement from the NFC team confirmed the news of Haralson’s death on Monday (September 13th).
“Paris was a beloved member of our organization who lived with an extraordinary amount of passion and joy, while leaving an indelible mark on anyone he came across,” said the 49. “We express our condolences to the family and loved ones of Paris.”
The cause of Haralson’s death is still unknown.

Haralson was drafted by San Francisco in the 2006 NFL Draft and continues to play six seasons with the team. He was traded to the New Orleans Saints in 2013 and played his last game a year later.
“Haralson had an unforgettable smile, an optimistic attitude and was deeply respected by both his teammates and the coaching staff for his combination of reliability, leadership and professionalism,” the saints said in a statement. The organization’s thoughts and prayers are addressed to the Haralson family.
After his playing career, Haralson served as director of the players’ engagement for two seasons.
Adam Snyder, a former teammate and player of the 49s, remembered Haralson as a great man.
“Paris Haralson was one of the greatest guys in the locker room for many years,” Snyder wrote on Twitter. “He made everyone around him smile. We had a difficult year and he was always the person I was looking forward to. It hurts. I miss P Town now.”
Ryan Sakamoto, another of Haralson’s teammates from the Niners, describes him as a man who will make him laugh.
“My good friend and former 49-year-old OLB Paris Haralson has died,” Sakamoto wrote on Twitter. “I literally just talked to him not so long ago. Paris, I’m going to miss your conversations and your unwavering support. You always made me laugh and smile at my face as you put others first. God wins an angel. RIP.”
