Everything can have a representation when it comes to inclusion, even if it’s candy! As times change, Mars, Incorporated, the company behind the colorful candy-covered M&M’s, has been on trend on Twitter since announcing the changes to its famous characters. They shared that they already have a modern makeover and more nuanced personalities.

According to The Hill, Mars, Incorporated announced today its global commitment to creating a world where everyone feels they belong and society is inclusive. The company says part of the new mission is to increase a sense of belonging for 10 million people worldwide by 2025. One of the major changes is with green M&M. Previously, the mascot was seen in commercials posing seductively and wearing white boots. Now the green M&M will be wearing a pair of sneakers. M&M’s website has a new description of green candy, which says she likes to be an advertising woman for her friends.

Also on the site, Green M&M explained, “I think we all win when we see more women in lead roles, so I’m happy to take on the role of supportive friend when they succeed.” Another notable change is for brown M&M, as the mascot moves away from power. The promotional website also says that the mascot is “Not a boss. Just the boss. “

Mars kept the look of M&M the same from 1941 and felt it was time for an updated tone of voice that was more inclusive, welcoming and unifying, while remaining rooted in our corporate jester, wit and humor. Catherine Slate, Chief Development Officer of MarsWrigley, said in a statement: “As one of the world’s most iconic candy brands, it’s better to dedicate yourself to a world of more fun, increasing your sense of belonging around the world. than M & M’s.

Roommates, do you think that was a good move ?!
