Los Angeles County yesterday approved a $ 2.5 million agreement in two lawsuits stemming from a helicopter crash in January 2020 that killed nine people, including the late Kobe Bryant. The lawsuits were filed by the Altobeli and Mauser families, who claim to have suffered emotional stress after first aid officers shared photos of the crash site and the deceased.

The agreement will distribute $ 1.25 million to Matthew Mauser, whose wife Christina Mauser died in the crash. Brothers and sisters JJ and Alexis Altobeli, who lost their parents John and Kerry, and their 14-year-old sister Alice in the crash, will also receive $ 1.25 million, according to The Hill.

Skip Miller, a lawyer representing Los Angeles County, told The LA Times: “We are pleased that the Mauser and Altobelli families, who as private citizens have suffered the same grief and loss as others, will be able to move forward after these settlements.” Reports indicate that Vanessa Bryant filed a similar lawsuit against the county over graphic photographs taken of her husband and daughter, Jana Bryant, and that there were several lawsuits following the tragic deaths of Kobe and the others. and Mauser reached a confidential agreement with the helicopter company, stating that the families had submitted a “joint settlement notice and a joint request for exemption from the opening deadlines”.

The documents state: “The applicants and the defendants jointly report that they have agreed to settle their claims in the context of the above action.” The terms of the agreement have been announced and the agreement is still awaiting court approval. Vanessa also filed a preliminary lawsuit against the company last year, and Ara Zobayan’s property was named as a defendant in the wrongful death case. Vanessa is expected to stand trial in February 2022 for the graphic photography case. Roommates, we will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
