As teaching critical race theory remains a hot topic in education at the moment, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is one of her opponents.
During her recent appearance in The View, Condoleezza denied teaching critical race theory, suggesting that black children could be empowered without making white children feel bad.
She cited her own upbringing in segregated Birmingham, Alabama, saying that while her parents did not believe she would live in a world without prejudice, they empowered her to overcome it, and that was the message she said needed to be learned.
“One of the worries I have about the way we talk about race is that it either looks so big that somehow white people will now have to feel guilty about everything that happened in the past,” he said. Condolysis. “I don’t think it’s very productive.
She continued: “Black people feel weakened by race. I would like black children to be fully empowered, to know that they are beautiful in their blackness, but to do that, I don’t have to make white children feel bad because they are white. In a way, this is a conversation that has gone in the wrong direction.
