Alec Baldwin speaks for the first time since the tragic incident that led to the fatal shooting of cameraman Halina Hutchins. As previously reported, Alec accidentally fired a handgun during the filming of his upcoming film Rust, leaving director Joel Souza wounded and unfortunately killing Hutchins.

In several tweets, Alec sent his condolences to the Hutchins family and revealed that he was cooperating with the police while investigating the horrific incident.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness about the tragic incident that took the life of Halina Hutchins, my wife, mother and deeply admired colleague,” wrote Alec Baldwin. “I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to look at how the tragedy happened, and I keep in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.”

“My heart is broken for her husband, their son and everyone who knows and loves Halina,” Alec added.

As previously reported, Rust Movie Productions LLC issued a statement stating that the company also fully cooperates with the police. Authorities said the firearm looked like a prop, and detectives were “investigating how and what type of projectile was fired.”

The tragic incident is similar to the death of actor Brandon Lee, who was killed after being hit by a bullet from a pistol, which was to be loaded with blanks on the set of “Crow” in 1993.

So far, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office says no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed. Please keep your families and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, Rooms.
