Hello friends! We hope you have a wonderful morning and look forward to a relaxing and delicious holiday tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I wanted to come in and share a quick workout that you can do anywhere during the holidays – especially if you’re traveling! Keep in mind that later tonight I will share a special offer for Black Friday with my friends from the newsletter, so make sure you are listed here if you want your first matches.

30 minutes at home Barre workout (video)

This general body workout combines some of my favorite barre elements: a series of leg shakes, gluteus burns, core work, balance challenges, strength, and endurance work. These are strictly weight exercises, so you can do this anywhere! Barre is easy to modify for beginners and low impact; it was one of my favorite workouts during pregnancy. As always, consult a doctor before making any changes to your fitness and honor your body. Change as needed!

What is a barre?

Barre is a low-impact workout that combines elements of ballet, Pilates, yoga and dance. You will work on the muscle groups of your whole body with an emphasis on the legs, glutes and abdomen. Barre is low impact but can be high intensity. The beauty of the barre is that you can adjust the intensity depending on the fitness levels of the participants and how they feel. There are always different ways to add or remove additional stressors, such as heavier weights, straps or other equipment. It tends to be lower than cardio, but you will find that many of the exercises will still speed up your heart rate and make you sweat. This is an effective option for training and one of my favorites, which you can do in the studio, gym or at home. You can read my blog post all about barre here!

What equipment do I need for a barre?

Typically, barre workouts use a variety of tools, from ribbons, ribbon loops, balls, light dumbbells, and sliding discs. You don’t need any equipment for this particular workout – just your own weight, a bottle of water and an exercise mat.

What to wear for a bar class?

I usually recommend wearing leggings and a tank top or sports bra. These are my favorite barre wedges!

Here is the whole next workout video! Hang this up the next time you need a quick and challenging, low-impact workout.
