The story was briefly touched on before things became strange to Heather, Josh and Mike in the woods, but Mirik and Sanchez said they would not mind clarifying the knowledge in another film. As collected by citizens in The Blair Witch project and in the accompanying documentary, The Curse of the Blair Witch: In 1785, a woman named Ellie Cadward was accused of witchcraft in Blair, later Birkitsville, after she was discovered to sting children’s fingers to shed their blood. She was found guilty in court and banished to the forest, where she was tied to a tree in the winter and left there. By the following winter, half of the city’s children had disappeared.
In the late 1800s, a local man tells Heather that a child named Robin Weaver disappeared into the woods and then reappeared three days later on her grandmother’s porch, “babbling something about an old woman whose feet had never been touched. A group of five men went out to look for Robin. In court, Parr said he only did what the ghost of the old lady told him to do.
Another woman tells Heather that she heard a story about two hunters who were camping and then disappeared without a trace. Also, the not-so-crazy Mary Brown says she was fishing with her father one day when she sensed a presence, after which she saw what looked like a woman shrouded in a scarf that she opened to reveal hair all over his body, like a horse.
The directors come across seven piles of rocks in the forest. Later, they return to their campsite to find three piles, one for each.
