The Nest Mini, reduced to $ 25, is all you need if you’re entering the world of smart home for the first time, but Nest Audio (8/10, WIRED recommends) is what you want to upgrade to if you’re pursuing better music quality. Pair two and you will get a pretty great stereo system. They can double as Bluetooth speakers or simply ask Google Assistant to play music through your favorite music streaming service. The assistant can also monitor your smart home devices and will try to answer anything you ask him, from weather updates to whether onions are toxic to dogs (they are).

The latest Amazon Echo (8/10, WIRED recommended) provides louder sound in all directions thanks to its 360-degree shape. It also has a 3.5mm output, so you can connect it to any existing speaker system. Talk to Alexa to control your smart gadgets, set timers and receive news. This small sphere can do a lot.

The speakers are not as good on this model as on the Echo above, but what makes this model special is the parental controls; you can set time limits, filter explicit content, and view activity. You get one year of Amazon Kids +, which includes Audible books and games (then $ 3 a month).

Purpose,, Best buy,, Bed Bath & Beyond

Smart displays show time, double as picture frames, and give you a fixed touch screen to control your smart home devices. We like Google’s latest Nest Hub, which is powered by Google Assistant. The speakers and microphones are sturdy and great for the kitchen or nightstand (no camera). It may even track your sleep, although the feature was a bit unstable when we tested it.

We haven’t tested exactly this model of Wyze Cam, but we have used its predecessor (it is in our guide to the best cameras for internal security). This package combines it with the second generation Nest Hub at an attractively low price. You can watch the video feed from Nest Hub by asking Google Now to download it.

Best buy,, Lowe’s (exhausted)

In our guide to the best outdoor security cameras, this is our favorite. You get crystal clear shots during the day and at night, thanks to 2K resolution and HDR support. It has a built-in siren and two-way audio so you can talk to people through the camera. We had to recharge it after less than three months of use. This deal is for a package of 3.

Purpose,, Best buy,, Bed Bath & Beyond

If your home is equipped with smart devices powered by Google Now, then you may want to try Google’s new Nest Cam. Works indoors, with clear 1080p video and two-way audio. There is also HDR and night vision support, plus traffic notifications for people, cars and pets. The battery version also sells for $ 150 ($ 30 discount) and needs recharging after about a month. For more information, see our guide to the best outdoor security cameras.

Walmart,, Amazon

One of the good things about Eufy security cameras is that they don’t require a subscription and you can record video locally in the HomeBase hub. EufyCam 2 Pro made our guide to the best outdoor security cameras for this reason, but also because the two included cameras produce crisp and clear frames with a resolution of up to 2K and boast extremely long battery life. On the other hand, there is no HDR, access to video online can be slow, and activity zones are limited.

Offers for pet accessories

Here we have collected more offers for equipment and accessories for pets.

Roverlund pet transport.

This carrier meets the size requirements of most major airlines and I really like it. The handle can serve as a leash, there is a pocket on the side for storing treats and you can keep your dog attached to the bag. The net makes it breathable, plus a sturdy (and plush) base means your puppy can take a nap in the air or on the train. I also regularly use Roverlund’s new pet bag, which is perfect for subway rides in New York, where dogs need to be in a bag.

This is an expensive waste bin, but a bargain for it is rare. We tested and wrote about this in our guide to the best toys and supplies for cats. It has removable sides and comes with a place to hold the included spoon and trash can.

Two WIRED reviewers have tested and like this DNA test for cats. This is a quick turnaround and you can get a lot of information about the health and breed of your little kitten. It’s not the lowest price we’ve ever seen (dropped to $ 69 in 2019), but it’s still a pretty great deal.

BarkBox.

Barkbox offers a personalized box of toys and treats for your dog, delivered to your door every month. For new members, the company offers double everything – toys, treats and chewing – if you subscribe to a six- or 12-month plan. BarkBox is in our guide to the best technology and accessories for dogs and there is a good reason. The toys are of high quality, as are the treats, although you can quickly feel overwhelmed by the number of treats that accumulate. It’s a lot.

No one wants the terrible shock to know that his beloved friend is ill. The DNA test can help you understand what to expect in the future and gives you great information about the breed. Embark is the most expensive dog test we have tried, but it is full of information. You can even find relatives of your dog.

We tried the older Fi collar and liked it. It uses your home’s Wi-Fi, cellular and GPS networks to track your dog if he gets lost and track his fitness. The collar has a light for walking at night, and the brand says that the battery should last three months.

Mattress offers

These are not the only mattresses that are sold. Here we collected more of our favorite mattresses. For more details, read our guide to buying the best mattresses. We associate with a queen-size mattress for most of them, but other sizes are on sale.

Helix Midnight Luxe hybrid mattress.

Photo: Helix

Of the dozens of mattresses we tested, this is our favorite. This is the only one that sleeps WIRED director Jeffrey Van Kamp in a bright room full of other people testing mattresses. It has a medium firm feel, which is comfortable for several sleeping positions, and the hybrid design offers better support for your back. This deal includes two free pillows.

This affordable mattress feels more expensive than it is, with gel-infused memory foam to keep your body cool, and individually wrapped coils for great edge support. The high-density foam gives it a medium-solid supportive feel. You don’t usually have to save on a product that you will use every day, but if your budget is limited, then this is one of the best bangs for your money.

Casper’s hybrid was the palate cleaner for WIRED’s resident mattress tester, Jeffrey Van Kamp. It has a nice balance between soft and supportive, breathable and at a reasonable price – even more so that it is on sale. This model is a little different from the one we tested, but the reviews on the web say that it is very similar.

Green organic hybrid avocado mattress.

This mattress is environmentally friendly. It is made of organic latex, organic wool and organic cotton (in California), without polyurethane, fire retardants, memory foam or chemical adhesives. The company is also B Corporation certified, which means it buys enough compensation to be able to say it’s a negative carbon business. The icing on the cake is that this is also a pretty great mattress. There is a nice balance between soft and hard and after a year of use there is no sagging at all.

Enter HOLIDAYS when paying

Here is another mattress made of organic cotton, wool and latex. What makes it special is the double-sided option, which means that both sides are upholstered in the same way, so you can turn the mattress every few months to extend its life. This is especially convenient when children are constantly jumping around on them before bed.

Leesa is another of our favorite mattresses. Its cover is silky smooth and comfortable, and lying on it creates a feeling of relief from the pressure, as if the mattress hugs your body. It has great support on the edges thanks to the individually packaged springs. This thing will bring you bliss in no time. The deal includes two pillows.

Vision OLED.

Best buy,, Amazon (exhausted)

It has reached that price before, but it’s a great deal and one of the most affordable ways to bring an OLED TV into your home (9/10, WIRED recommends). The advantage of OLED is that each pixel lights up individually, so when you see black, the pixels turn off and are not illuminated by any other backlight; this creates a stunning dark black for excellent contrast. If you have the new Xbox or PlayStation, you can enjoy 4K games at 120 frames per second.

Best buy,, Amazon (exhausted),, Walmart (exhausted)

This one is a little more expensive, but you get one of the best viewing experiences that money can buy. It has Google TV installed, so you don’t need another streaming device to watch content, and you can talk to Google Assistant to control it or make other inquiries. It also supports AirPlay 2, so you can easily share media from your iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Amazon,, Purpose (exhausted),, Best Buy ($ 1,300)

If you have a gaming computer with an Nvidia graphics card, you can connect it to the fantastic LG C1 OLED (8/10, WIRED recommended) and get G-Sync support for ultra-smooth 120-Hz gameplay. This experience also translates if you connect an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. The OLED quality is stunning, and the centered stand makes it easy to place on most TV stands.
