Carl Cavalier says his impending termination by the Louisiana State Police Department is revenge for his criticism of the way his department handled a deadly traffic stop in 2019.
According to NBC NewsThe 33-year-old Cavalier said on Friday (October 15th) that he would run for office. Cavalier has been with the state police since 2014. He was quoted by local television as saying that his department was covering up the death of 49-year-old Ronald Green.
Comes out of paid leave from August. He shared a letter dated October 8, warning him of his potential shooting within 45 days. It was signed and dated by Louisiana Police Chief Lamar A. Davis.
In addition, the letter alleges breaches of public statements, department loyalty, publicity seeking, misconduct by an employee and dissemination of information.

“I swore and I swore to do exactly what I do,” Cavalier said. “I will continue to work with everything in me. If the justice system is working properly, if the appeal process is working properly, I believe I will get my job back. ”
The gentleman said WWBRZ in June that “we still have killers, in my eyes, at work. Boys slapped on the wrist for their role in the Ronald Green incident go unpunished … patrolling the streets and staying at work.
Green, 49, was involved in a high-speed chase on May 10, 2019. The chase led to his arrest by state police. A year later, the footage was released to the Associated Press, showing soldiers stunning, hitting and dragging Green; he was left without medical assistance for nearly nine minutes. Troops initially told Green’s family that he died in a crash after crashing into a tree.
NAACP Chairman Baton Rouge, Eugene Collins, said: “He has tried to ensure transparency, which he says the agency does not provide. This man stood up for the soldiers and what was right. This sends us steps back. “
“This is not the oath I vowed to keep to watch my colleagues beat blacks,” Cavalier said.
