According to documents released by the #NewYork Attorney General’s Office, Chris Cuomo played a bigger role in his brother’s case than originally thought.
The CNN presenter is said to have used his media connections to seek information on those who accused his brother, Andrew Cuomo, of sexual violence.
CNBC reports that Chris Cuomo has been in active contact with his brother’s chief team assistant.
“Chris Cuomo was in active contact with Melissa DeRosa, the governor’s top aide, about incoming media reports detailing alleged sexual harassment by Andrew Cuomo, according to evidence from the Attorney General’s investigation and a transcript of his interview with US investigators. “
It was also said that Chris sent an SMS that “there is a trace of the wedding girl” after the New York Times reported that Andrew Cuomo had tried to kiss Anna Ruch.
CNN issued a statement regarding documents accusing the host of using his media connections for his brother’s case. It read, “The thousands of pages of additional transcripts and exhibits published today by the Attorney General of New York deserve in-depth review and consideration,” CNN spokesman Matt Dornik said. “We will hold talks and seek further clarity on their significance as they relate to CNN over the next few days.
Chris Cuomo told investigators that he spoke to “sources” about allegations published in an article.
“I would – when asked, I would contact sources, other journalists, to see if they had heard of anyone else coming out,” Cuomo told investigators.
As you know, Andrew Cuomo resigned in August after Attorney General Leticia James, who is also running for governor, published a report on the alleged misconduct. He was then charged with a crime related to sexual violence.
